The board's total
The top 1000's market cap, day by day over the year to 2026-09-21. This week is shaded.
▲6.7% to $2.91T, after a fall the week before and the 4th biggest of the year's 22 rises; 33.0% below the year's high of $4.34T on 2025-10-07. Across the year's 52 weeks the biggest rise was ▲21.5%, in the week to 2026-08-24, and the biggest fall ▼12.4%, in the week to 2026-06-08.
Who moved it
Every coin's market-cap change over the week, a coin that entered the top 1000 counted in full and one that left counted out in full. Each coin's share of its side is on the right.
Bitcoin +$97.0B, 52% of the $187.9B the risers added; Ethereum +$24.0B was 13%. The fallers took $4.3B away, Rain the most at −$690.0M.
How the coins did
The week's price change of every coin ranked at both ends of it, pegged coins left out, in bins; Bitcoin's and Ethereum's bins are marked. Under it, the change of the middle coin in each hundred of the board, by where a coin started the week.
78% of coins up: 270 of the 859 gained 10% or more and 43 lost that much. Bitcoin did ▲6.3%, the middle coin ▲5.6%, the total ▲6.7%. By starting rank, the top 100 did best, its middle coin ▲10.0%, and ranks 801 to 900 worst, ▲3.7%.
The indicators
The market's four on the board of 2026-09-21 against 2026-09-14, each placed in the year, with its chart on the today page. Then the board on the indicators page's fifteen, one number per coin per day: the middle coin of the top 200 on both Mondays, and how those coins split across each indicator's zones, this Monday from the Monday before. A row opens the chart as it stood on 2026-09-21.
58% of coins above their price a month ago, from 73% a week earlier: lower than on 19% of days this year, the narrowest since 2026-08-21. The year's range is 13% (2025-11-23) to 79% (2026-05-07). live chart

Sectors
The coins ranked at both ends of the week grouped by category, each coin in every category it belongs to, and the price change of each category's middle coin. Categories with at least 15 coins; pegged coins left out, as are categories that name a listing programme or a country. The last column is the sector's place the week before.
AI Applications ▲15.4% was first; Tokenized Assets was last at ▲1.4%. In the 54 weeks so far, the sector that was first stayed first the week after 13 times, and of a week's five best sectors, typically 2 were among the five best the week after.
The movers
A climb from 40th to 10th counts the same as one from 400th to 100th. The number in brackets is how many places a coin that started the week in the same hundred of the board usually moves in a week, up or down. On the right, the market-cap change over the week. Below them, the biggest market-cap changes themselves, for coins worth at least $50M at the start, since the rank lists come mostly from the small end of the board.
Climbed the most
In the 54 weeks so far, the fifty biggest climbers of one week typically did ▼2.9% the week after, and the middle coin of the board ▼0.8%. The climbers did better than the middle coin in 13 of those weeks.
Fell the most
In the 54 weeks so far, the fifty biggest fallers of one week typically did 0.0% the week after, and the middle coin of the board ▼0.8%. The fallers did better than the middle coin in 27 of those weeks.

Entered and left
On the board at the end of the week and not at the start, and the other way round; the highest-ranked of each.
Entered the top 1000 · 32
Left the top 1000 · 32
32 in, 32 out; 1 of the entrants are memecoins. 367 coins climbed in rank, 571 fell and 30 held. Akedo (from #124), Aptos (from #105) and Stacks (from #106) entered the top 100; Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund, Flare and XDC Network left it.
Method
One snapshot of the top 1000 is taken per day, shortly after midnight UTC; ranks are positions in that day's snapshot. An issue compares the snapshot on its Monday with the one seven days earlier and is never rewritten. Every sentence on the page is written from the numbers by a fixed rule; nothing is edited by hand. Days before the site launched were filled in per coin afterwards, and only for the coins ranked at launch, so the year's lines carry survivorship bias there; details on the about page.
A reading is placed in the year ending on the issue's Monday. "Higher than on 92% of days this year" counts the days in that year with a lower value, and "the most since" names the last day before the week when the reading was at least this high, or this low for a falling one; it is left out when that day is within a fortnight. Weeks are numbered as ISO weeks, Monday to Sunday, and an issue covers the week that ended the day before its Monday snapshot. For runs and places the year's weeks run Monday to Monday: a run counts consecutive weeks moving the same way, and a week's place ranks its move against the year's other weeks in that direction.
The daily list drops a coin now and then, usually for a day or two and occasionally longer, so each end of the week is the top 1000 by market cap among the coins listed that day plus any coin the list dropped in the six days before while its last market cap was at least twice the smallest on the list, each at its latest market cap and price; a rank is a position in that list. A dropped coin never reads as a departure, a coin that slipped past the cutoff leaves at once, and a coin that really was removed shows up at most a week late. The coins that entered are the ones in the end list and not the start list, and the coins that left the other way round, so the two counts are equal. Who moved it is each coin's market cap at the end of the week less its market cap at the start, a coin that entered counted in full and one that left counted out in full; the risers' sum and the fallers' sum are reported as they are, and their difference is close to but not exactly the total's move. A memecoin is a coin in any meme category.
Price changes are taken over the coins ranked at both ends of the week, leaving out coins within 5% of a dollar at both ends; the middle coin is the median, half the coins above it and half below. A hundred with fewer than ten such coins does not compete for best or worst, and the bottom hundred is biased upward, because the coins that fell out of the top 1000 during the week are not in it. Sectors are the categories with at least 15 such coins, leaving out categories that name a listing programme or a country, and a coin counts in every category it belongs to. Stablecoins count in the movers and in who moved it, since a stablecoin's market cap grows when new units are issued. Trading is the 24-hour volume at each snapshot, stablecoins left out, as a share of the same coins' market cap; the week's figure is the middle of its seven days, and a coin's volume on a day is dropped when it exceeds twenty times its market cap, which only a broken feed reports.
Breadth is the share of the board priced higher than 30 days earlier, over the coins that had a price then. The altcoin season index is, of the 50 largest coins, leaving out stablecoins (within 5% of a dollar at both ends of the 90 days), gold tokens and wrapped or staked BTC and ETH, the share that beat Bitcoin over the last 90 days; above 75 is usually called altcoin season, below 25 Bitcoin season. The stablecoins' share is the market cap of the coins in any stablecoin category as a share of the board's total. The today page draws each of the four over the year and reads it on the latest snapshot.
The fifteen indicators are computed as on the indicators page, from the snapshots alone, and are defined on the about page. On each Monday the middle coin is taken among the top 200 over the coins with a value that day, leaving out what that page leaves out: stablecoins, gold tokens, wrapped or staked BTC and ETH, tokenized treasuries, money market funds and credit, and any coin that moved less than 0.25% a day over the last 30 days; a day with fewer than 20 such coins has no value. The zone shares are over the same coins on each Monday, and the shift the reading names is the zone whose share moved the most between the two, on any of the fifteen.
Three readings look back over every Monday-to-Monday week the dataset holds up to this issue. The fifty biggest climbers and fallers of a week are followed into the week after: the price change of the middle coin among them, and of the middle coin of the whole board, each the middle value over those weeks ("typically"), with the count of weeks in which the group did better than the board; weeks before 2026-08-25 hold only the coins that survived to launch, which flatters the fallers. The number in brackets after a move in the movers lists is the middle value, over the same weeks, of how many places a coin that started the week in the same hundred of the board moved, up or down. The sector readings count, over consecutive weeks with at least eight sectors in common, how often the first sector stayed first, and how many of a week's five best sectors were among the five best the week after.
