The latest snapshot, taken shortly after midnight UTC, against the year behind it: the board on the indicators page's fifteen in one table, then each market indicator over the year with yesterday, a week ago and a month ago beside it, what on the board is at an extreme, and the year in charts. The weekly issue reads the same numbers one week at a time, and the map is today's board as a treemap.

The board on its indicators
The indicators page's fifteen, one number per coin per day, read as the value of the middle coin among the top 200: today, with yesterday, a week ago and a month ago beside it, the year to 2026-09-21 as a line, and how the coins split across the indicator's zones today. A row opens the chart.

The line is the year to 2026-09-21; hovering it gives the year's low and high with their days, and the share of the year's days with a lower value than today's. The zones are the chart's, and their shares are of the coins among the top 200 with a value today. Each indicator is defined on the about page.
The total
The top 1000's market cap, day by day over the year.
$2.91T today; $2.88T yesterday, $2.72T a week ago, $2.75T a month ago. Higher than on 63% of days this year, a 90-day high. The year's low was $2.13T on 2026-07-01 and the high $4.34T on 2025-10-07.
Breadth, 30 days
The share of the board priced higher than 30 days earlier, every day. Above 50 means more coins rising than falling over a month; a market can rise on Bitcoin alone while breadth stays low.
58% today; 69% yesterday, 73% a week ago, 72% a month ago. Over 90 days 65% of the board is higher, over a year 19%. Higher than on 81% of days this year, a 30-day low. The year's low was 13% on 2025-11-23 and the high 79% on 2026-05-07.
Market correlation
How much the 50 largest coins move together: the correlation of their daily changes, pair by pair, over the last 30 days, averaged; Bitcoin, stablecoins, gold tokens and wrapped or staked BTC and ETH left out. Near 1 the market moves as one; lower, coins move on their own.
0.36 today; 0.41 yesterday, 0.38 a week ago, 0.44 a month ago. Higher than on 32% of days this year. The year's low was 0.25 on 2026-08-14 and the high 0.65 on 2025-10-24.
Dispersion
How differently the 100 largest coins move from each other: the spread of a day's changes across them (a standard deviation, in percentage points), stablecoins left out, averaged over the last 30 days.
4.4% today; 4.5% yesterday, 3.7% a week ago, 3.4% a month ago. Higher than on 38% of days this year. The year's low was 3.2% on 2026-05-19 and the high 13.2% on 2026-04-03.
Altcoin season index
Of the 50 largest coins, leaving out stablecoins, gold tokens and wrapped or staked BTC and ETH, the share that beat Bitcoin over the last 90 days. Above 75 is usually called altcoin season, below 25 Bitcoin season.
52 today; 48 yesterday, 34 a week ago, 44 a month ago. Higher than on 74% of days this year, a 30-day high. The year's low was 16 on 2025-12-12 and the high 66 on 2026-03-22.
Bitcoin's share
Bitcoin's market cap as a share of the top 1000's.
56.4% today; 56.7% yesterday, 56.7% a week ago, 57.3% a month ago. Higher than on 27% of days this year. The year's low was 55.2% on 2026-06-04 and the high 59.1% on 2025-10-11.
Stablecoins' share
The stablecoins' market cap as a share of the top 1000's. It rises when the other coins fall and when stablecoins are minted; it falls when the other coins rise and when stablecoins are redeemed.
10.6% today; 10.7% yesterday, 11.4% a week ago, 11.2% a month ago. Higher than on 36% of days this year, a 90-day low. The year's low was 6.9% on 2025-10-07 and the high 14.4% on 2026-07-01.
Turnover
Each day's trading volume as a share of the same coins' market cap, stablecoins left out: how much of itself the board changes hands in a day.
2.6% today; 2.5% yesterday, 1.8% a week ago, 6.1% a month ago. Higher than on 31% of days this year. The year's low was 0.9% on 2026-01-18 and the high 12.1% on 2026-02-06.

The year, day by day
Each square is one day: the top 1000's total market cap against the day before, green up and red down, full strength at five percent.
The board's total went from $4.09T to $2.91T (▼29.0%). Its high for the year was $4.34T on 2025-10-07; today it sits 33.0% below that. The deepest fall was 51.0%, from 2025-10-07 to 2026-07-01. 172 days closed higher than the day before and 194 lower. The best day was 2026-02-07 (▲10.1%), the worst 2026-02-06 (▼12.4%). A typical day moved 1.2% one way or the other; 13 days moved 5% or more.
Month by month
The total's change over each calendar month: the month's last snapshot against the last snapshot before the month began. The month still running is drawn lighter.
5 of the 12 whole months closed higher than the month before. The best was Aug 2026 (▲19.5%), the worst Feb 2026 (▼19.2%). The longest run of losses was 5 months, Oct 2025 to Feb 2026. Sep 2026 so far: ▲5.5%.
Trading volume
What the top 1000 traded each day: the 24-hour volume of every coin on the board, summed, with stablecoins left out since their volume is mostly the other side of everyone else's trades. The busiest day is marked.
On 2026-09-21 the top 1000 traded $67.2B, 2.6% of its market cap; a typical day this year saw $78.5B change hands. The busiest day was 2025-10-11 ($360.1B), the quietest 2026-08-17 ($22.1B). Weekends are quiet: a typical Saturday or Sunday traded 59% of a typical weekday. The busiest month was Oct 2025, with a typical day at $169.3B; the quietest Aug 2026, at $41.7B.
Who does the trading
The same five bands, but of the trading volume instead of the market cap, over the seven days to each day; stablecoins are left out. A band that trades more than it holds changes hands faster than the market as a whole.
In the week to 2026-09-21, Bitcoin did 40.8% of the trading while holding 63.2% of the market, stablecoins left out of both. Ranks 11 to 100 hold 8.7% of the market and did 15.9% of the trading; the coins below rank 100 hold 2.4% and did 8.5%. Over the year, Bitcoin's share of the trading was 47.3% on a typical day.
The most and least traded
Each coin's daily volume as a share of its market cap, the middle value over its days on the board this year, for the 61 coins worth at least $1B today with at least 90 days of volume; stablecoins are left out. A coin at the top changes hands constantly; one at the bottom has a market cap almost nobody trades.
Most traded for their size
Share of the market cap traded on a typical day.
Least traded for their size
The same, from the bottom.
Among the 61 coins, the middle one turned over 3.6% of its market cap a day; Bitcoin 2.4%, Ethereum 6.1%. 12 of the 61 traded less than 1% of their market cap on a typical day.

One dot per coin: its rank on 2025-09-21 across, its rank today down, both on a log scale. On the diagonal nothing changed; above it the coin climbed, below it fell. The strip on the right holds the coins that were not in the top 1000 a year ago, the strip at the bottom the ones that are gone from it now. Hover a dot for the coin, click it for its page.
369 of today's top 1000 were not in it a year ago, 35% of the board: 10 of them are in the top 100 today, 121 between 101 and 500, and 238 below that. 33 coins that were in it have dropped out. Of the 679 on both boards, 131 climbed, 423 fell and 125 stayed within about 15% of their rank.

How the coins did
The 1-year price change of the 679 coins on today's board that had a price on 2025-09-21, the coins the year-ago numbers are taken over, in bins. Bitcoin's and Ethereum's bins are marked.
373 of the 679 lost half or more of their value; 30 at least doubled and 11 made 10× or better. Bitcoin did ▼29.4% and Ethereum ▼40.1%.
How the sectors did
The same coins grouped by category, each coin in every category it belongs to, and the 1-year change of each category's middle coin. Categories with at least 15 coins; stablecoins and other tokens pegged to a dollar are left out, as are categories that name a listing programme or a country. Hover a row for how many of its coins are down.
In 1 of the 18 sectors the middle coin gained: Tokenized Assets. Tokenized Assets did best (▲16.0%) and Solana Meme worst (▼74.9%). Across all 622 coins that are not pegged, the middle coin did ▼58.9%.
Method
One snapshot of the top 1000 is taken per day, shortly after midnight UTC; ranks are positions in that day's snapshot. Every sentence on the page is written from the numbers by a fixed rule; nothing is edited by hand. Days before the site launched were filled in per coin afterwards, and only for the coins ranked at launch, so the year's lines carry survivorship bias there; details on the about page. The middle coin is the median, half the coins above it and half below.
The fifteen indicators are computed as on the indicators page, from the snapshots alone, and are defined on the about page. The middle coin is taken among the top 200 over the coins with a value that day, leaving out what that page leaves out: stablecoins, gold tokens, wrapped or staked BTC and ETH, tokenized treasuries, money market funds and credit, and any coin that moved less than 0.25% a day over the last 30 days; a day with fewer than 20 such coins has no value. The zone shares are over the same coins today.
Each indicator is read on the latest snapshot. "Yesterday", "a week ago" and "a month ago" are the values on the snapshot nearest one, seven and thirty days back, within two days. "Higher than on" counts the days in the year with a lower value. An extreme is the highest or lowest value of the last 30, 90 or 365 days, the longest that applies, and is left out when those values are all the same. Breadth is each coin on the day's board against its own price 30, 90 or 365 days earlier, over the coins that had a price then. In the altcoin season index a stablecoin is a coin within 5% of a dollar at both ends of the 90 days, and gold tokens and wrapped or staked BTC and ETH are told by symbol. The correlation index uses the 50 largest coins on the latest day as a fixed set, so the line measures the market and not a changing membership, and a pair counts with at least 20 paired days of returns. Dispersion is over the 100 largest coins on each day, needing at least 20 of them with a return, and its 30-day mean needs at least 15 days.
A rank counts as an extreme against the observed days before today, at most 90, for coins on the board on at least five of them. A sector counts as an extreme when its middle coin's 30-day change today is above or below its value on every Monday of the year with at least eight such Mondays; the categories and the 15-coin floor are the ones the year's sector table uses.
Month by month is the board's total on the month's last snapshot against its total on the last snapshot before the month began, which for the first month lies before the year shown; the current month runs to today. Stablecoins are the coins in any stablecoin category, whichever currency they track and whether or not they pay yield; the issuers' own tokens are not counted, and categories are fetched once, when a coin first enters the top 1000. Volume is each coin's trading volume over the 24 hours before the snapshot, so a day's figure covers the calendar day before it, and weekends are counted that way. Stablecoins are left out of the volume total, turnover, the trading shares and the most and least traded lists, since their volume is mostly the other side of everyone else's trades. A coin's volume on a day is left out when it exceeds twenty times its market cap, which only a broken feed reports. The trading shares are taken over the seven days to each day, and a coin's turnover is its volume divided by its market cap, the middle value over its days on the board.
The 1-year change is each coin's price on 2025-09-21 against today's. "No market data" means there is no price for the coin on 2025-09-21; for 310 of the 321, its history starts after that date, so it was not listed yet. Coins that left the top 1000 during the year are not in the year-ago numbers or the returns chart, so the full market did worse than these survivor figures. The daily list occasionally drops a coin for a day or two, so in the then-vs-now chart and the entries and exits a coin only counts as gone or new when it is missing from seven consecutive snapshots at that end of the year, and its rank and price come from the nearest snapshot that lists it. The year's sectors are the categories of the coins in the year-ago numbers, leaving out coins within 5% of a dollar on both days and categories that name a listing programme or a country; a coin counts in every category it belongs to, so the groups overlap.
